Yes. All projects are invoiced. Brivalis OÜ is based in Estonia. If you have an EU VAT number, the VAT on your invoice will be zero. If you do not provide a valid EU VAT number, the invoice will be increased by 22%, which is the VAT rate applied in Estonia, where we are based. If you are a non-EU client, you are exempt from VAT.

When invoicing, we automatically check your VAT number against the VIES database. If you benefit from any type of exemption, please let us know that your VAT number is correct so that the 0% intra-community VAT rate can be applied. Otherwise, we will have to charge you VAT.

What is the VIES system?

It is an electronic system for validating VAT numbers of economic operators registered in the European Union for cross-border transactions of goods and services. Providers of electronic services, such as antivirus updates, are required to charge VAT on the service. If the buyer of the services is a taxable person, in certain circumstances the buyer, and not the seller, must pay the VAT. Therefore, the seller may ask the buyer for their VAT number and can thus confirm who should declare the VAT. If the buyer does not have a valid VAT number, the seller must charge VAT.
